Trip organised by Martin Miller
15 of us (11 by minibus and 4 by car) met up in the Museum cafe for coffee before we had an informative and fascinating guided tour of the impressive new Shoe Maker Museum at Clarks Village, Street. Our guide was an archivist at Clarks for 23 years with incredibly detailed knowledge of the history of the Clarks family, starting with the founders who had 14 children whose many descendants still own shares today. We had time for lunch afterwards and then for shopping in the Outlet Village which seemed to be prospering despite current economic pressures. Our thanks to Neil for driving the minibus which provided a glorious scenic drive over the Mendips.
